All Investigators working on NIH-funded projects with issue dates on or after August 24, 2012 must complete the CITI Course on NIH/PHS Conflict of Interest Course prior to engaging in the research; salary charges are not allowed on these awards until the training requirement has been met.
The Course includes three mandatory modules and one optional module and takes approximately 1-1 ½ hours to complete. The training can be done in multiple sessions.
- Module 1 - Financial Conflicts of Interest: Overview, Investigator Responsibilities, and COI Rules
- Module 2 - Institutional Responsibilities as They Affect Investigators
- Module 3 – Conflicts of Interest Institution-Specific Policies (MIT’s Policy)
- Module 4 - Conflicts of Commitment, Conscience, and Institutional Conflicts of Interest (optional)
Retraining is required every four years.
